SpaceHK is a private company driving Hong Kong’s commercial space sector. We offer consulting and policy expertise, and connect global investment to space projects, making the most of Hong Kong’s strengths in finance, talent, and international partnerships to secure its leadership in the new space economy.

Our mission is to promote and grow commercial space in Hong Kong: spanning satellites, earth observation, space tourism, and orbital transport.

Founder
Mahesh Harilela is an entrepreneur and philanthropist, well-respected within the vibrant business community of Hong Kong. As a member of the renowned Harilela family, he has contributed to the diverse portfolio of the Harilela Group, which spans hospitality, real estate, finance, and more.
Mahesh's insights and actions have had a profound impact on its operations and strategic direction. His work supports the group's ventures into new areas like renewable energy, agriculture, advanced technology, and NewSpace Economy thereby contributing to the Harilela family's legacy of innovation and global engagement.
Mahesh also actively participates in the Harilela Family Council, where he plays a crucial role as Convenor in areas such as preserving the family's heritage, shaping family governance policies, and supporting the development of the family office. Through his involvement, he helps to ensure that the family's values and business ethics are maintained and passed down through generations.
Mahesh Harilela's contributions reflect his deep commitment to both his family's legacy and the broader community, showcasing his influence in fostering sustainable growth and family unity.

Dr. Janikowski spent over twenty years working for investment banks in the UK, France, Canada and Hong Kong. In addition, he has broad leadership and governance experience in both the private and not for profit sectors. He has provided advisory, restructuring and financial consulting services to clients in a diverse set of industries, including the space economy, energy, and sustainability. He has been appointed as a adjunct professor in the department of mining engineering of Queen’s University at Kingston.
Dr. Janikowski received his doctorate from the Colorado School of Mines where he was one of the first students in their space resources development program. He is a recognized expert in the Funding of the New Space Economy and his research has been published in several space focused academic journals. While completing his Master’s degree, also from the Colorado School of Mines, Dr. Janikowski was a winner of the NASA Big Ideas Challenge and was funded to help develop a laser for power beaming in Space. In addition, Dr. Janikowski has received an MBA with distinction from INSEAD and both a Bachelor of Applied Science in Chemical Engineering and a Classics degree from Queen’s University at Kingston.

Iñaki Amate is the former Chairman of the European Chamber of Commerce in Hong Kong and currently the vice Chair. Since 2022, he has been instrumental in fostering trade and relationships between European and Hong Kong organizations. His leadership is further exemplified in his role as the founder of SANDS.vc, a platform dedicated to angel investing and nurturing startups, where he leverages his expertise in Venture Capital and Start-up ecosystems in domains such as advance materials or Space technology. He was also the APAC head of Innovation and Experience at EY.
Iñaki held significant roles within various other chambers and business councils, including President and Chairman of the Spanish and Finnish Chamber of Commerce in Hong Kong. His previous experiences include leading Fjord, part of Accenture Interactive, in Asia and driving business growth and international expansion for various companies. He is also HKUST MSc in Business Analytics Corporate Advisory Board member.
A recognized thought leader, Iñaki has been a prominent speaker at numerous global forums, contributing insights on international macroeconomics and internationalization, innovation, digital transformation, and business strategy. His commentary is frequently featured in major publications such as Bloomberg, WSJ, and the South China Morning Post.
Educated at prestigious institutions, Iñaki holds an MBA in General Management from Aalto University Executive Education, and a Master of Science in Economics from Hanken School of Economics, where he was part of the first cohort of the Marketing in Cyberspace Masters program.

An active business leader, he also serves as Director at HK01, Hong Kong's leading Chinese language media, and on the board of several companies including SINO-i, a digital services platform for Chinese businesses.
